At VIDYA we believe that in order to preserve a clean, green environment we must learn to recycle. To mark the celebration of Republic Day, the students put up an exhibition on “Best Out Of Waste.” The chief guest for the occasion was Mr Jatul Anand, DGM- Zonal Credit (North) PNB-HFL, and Ms Latika Nayar, Manager CSR. PNB Housing Finance Limited.
The exhibition was an attempt to reflect upon, how we can use material such as old plastic bottles, waste paper, saw dust, wood shavings, corrugated sheets, used copper wires, bangles and other waste material as a medium of creative expression. The students made models displaying the impact of demonetization, rain water harvesting, a life like skeleton, wall art, dialysis, formation of clouds and rain, kaleidoscopes with colourful patterns, a periscope, electrolysis equipment and robots in action. It was a colourful display of interesting objects. Besides learning about the importance of recycling and how it impacts the environment, the students also learnt how to innovate and construct, using material that is seemingly unusable. They put in extensive research into building these models. They brain stormed on a variety of topics from the field of science and social studies. The exhibition was an expression of their cognitive flexibility and knowledge. They discussed various aspects of building these objects and were proficient in answering the queries of the guests. The exhibition was followed by a cultural program of music, dance and drama. The students enthralled the audience with their performance. In his speech, Mr Anand, lauded the efforts of the students and said that the expertise displayed was “mind boggling”. He complimented the thought behind the exhibition.
