Classical & Fusion Dance
VidyaSchool's dance programme offers training in Bharatanatyam (classical Indian dance) and Contemporary/Fusion styles. Students are grouped by experience level (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced). Weekly 60-minute sessions are held in the school's dedicated dance studio. Students perform at Annual Day and may be selected for inter-school dance competitions. The programme is open to all genders and all class levels (Class 1–12).
Choral & Classical Singing
The vocal music programme trains students in Western choral singing and Hindustani classical music. The school choir participates in annual competitions and school functions. Individual Hindustani vocal training follows the Bhatkhande system. Assessments are conducted termly with a performance recital at the end of the academic year. Vocal training is available to all students regardless of prior experience.
Instrumental Music
Instrumental music covers both Western (keyboard, guitar, flute) and Indian classical instruments (tabla, harmonium, sitar). Students select their instrument at enrollment and receive individual or small-group instruction. Instruments are available for use during school sessions; personal instruments are encouraged for home practice. Students are assessed in two recitals per year (Term 1 end and Annual Day).
Assessments & Grading
Co-curricular arts performance is graded on a 3-point scale (Commendable, Satisfactory, Needs Practice) based on: • Attendance and participation (40%) • Skill progression over the term (30%) • Performance quality in recitals/events (30%) Grades appear in the student's annual report card under the 'Co-Curricular Activities' section.

Do I need prior dance or music experience to enroll?
No — the programme caters to all skill levels. Beginner groups start from foundational techniques. Your placement is determined in an orientation session in the first week.
Can I switch instruments mid-year?
Instrument changes are permitted at the start of Term 2 only, subject to availability and teacher approval. Requests must be submitted to the Music Department.
